Spice's Memories

Hello humans and welcome to the story of how I came to live in Scotland. The Chelsi human and I used to live in the USA with my BESTEST dog and cat friends (I miss you Jefferson 🐅!) and some other pretty great humans we saw occasionally. She went away to do PhD research (why did she not take me, I still want to know) and shortly after she came back a Guy human came to visit.

Chelsi's Memories

In February of this year Guy planned a pseudo surprise trip upon my return to the UK (I knew we were going somewhere, but didn’t know where). After being apart for 2 months I was super excited to be back together and to explore a bit more of Scotland. We stayed near Lock Earn and enjoyed typical Scottish winter weather- grey, wet, and cold- but it made for an amazing trip.

Peter & Julie's Memories

These are a few of our favourite pictures of Guy growing up in Balmerino and beyond, from a babe in arms (with mum, David and Joanne) to graduation. Holiday photos dominate with early trips to Bryher in the Scilly Isles (lots of boats and fishing) then regular sojourns to Club La Santa in Lanzarote (scene of some famous sporting moments) and expeditions to Australia (camping in Kakadu National Park; visiting the Aussie Oxenbury clans).

Guy's Memories

After a long, near decade, time apart Chelsi and I had a fleeting catchup in Edinburgh. It was the hardest and best decision I have ever made. However it was so fleeting that it was hard to take everything in. Making the next decision to fly to Copenhagen was the second best decision I have ever made. Waking up early in the Copenhagen sun and walking along the waterfront with Chelsi is a memory I will never forget.

Jo & Mike's Memories

2017/2018: Project Manager “Pre-Chelsi” Guy spent a year doing up his sister’s house! Laying floors, doing electrics, plastering, sanding, plumbing, insulating….it all took its toll on Guy. Before After But along came Chelsi (and Spice!) in the nick of time, much to the relief of the tradesmen (and barbers) of Manchester. Congratulations to you both and we can’t wait to celebrate with a proper big bash in 2022.

Kirsten & Alex's Memories

Chelsi has always been one of a kind and growing up her compassion for other people, love of learning and can-do attitude made her stand out. Not to mention her unique outfits and how cute she was in photos - check these out! Photographic proof of 18 years of scheming over twin stuff, swimming in various lakes with proper safety equipment and wearing popcorn bowls as hats. Then, it came time for us to go to college (or “university" as she might say now).

David & Lorna's Memories

My little brother getting married…fancy that! Don’t worry Guy, I shall not make this “too” awkward and embarrassing for you. Memories? Well there’s at least 13 years of growing up with you to contend with! Naturally there’s always going to be a “healthy” level of competition between two brothers and we were no exception. Lets just say I was glad I was nearly 4 years older as we were quite evenly matched once Guy started playing Rugby!

Doug's Memories

In my family, playing games was a frequent occurrence, especially card games. One of the most common was cribbage, at which my Dad was especially good. When Chelsi and Kirsten were old enough to add numbers and match cards, Grandpa often played cribbage with them. The first time that Chelsi beat Grandpa– admittedly after several years of playing– it was a joyous occasion. It was like a rite of passage had taken place.

Tim's Memories

In the summer of 2013, Guy and I had the pleasure of being invited to Riga, Latvia, to work on a new future-predicting AI named Balzams. Although the work would be intense, I was excited to explore a new place with a good friend. I’d forgotten that Guy favours conducting the business of life in the middle of the night, so we did not manage to spend that much time with each other.

Maving's Memories

Remember driving up to Balmerino with Grandma Alma on an extremely cold early November day to meet the new baby Guy even then he was a big Lad. In his early teens I enjoyed driving him in the SAAB, he always wanted to be driven faster, to rugby practice at St Andrews his enthusiasm was a pleasure to watch, the weather conditions never deterred him. It was always a pleasure to have him visit us at Ferndale, being careful when starting a manual project or Guy’s enthusiasm would wear me out.

Elin's Memories

Chelsi From a very young age, Chelsi has shown compassion, an ability to dive directly into life, an affinity for animals, strength, and determination. She has grown into a remarkable young woman with these same traits. She and Kirsten were under a year old and teething, Kirsten’s teeth gave her a tough time, so she chewed objects– and sometimes Chelsi. Chelsi kindly put up with it until one day when she bit Kirsten back quite hard.

Atkinsons' Memories

We always enjoy visits to Balmerino to see the “Taylor Clan” and love having them to stay with us making many happy memories. Guy being the youngest is closest in age to his Atkinson cousins and always found time to teach them a trick or two in the swimming baths and especially on the computer. Annual visits to ‘The Pavilion Cantonese restaurant’, to celebrate Grandma’s birthday were always enjoyed, trying to master chopsticks and seeing who could manage a desert after sampling the Dynasty Banquet and all it’s courses.

John's Memories

I’m sad not to have much photographic record from my earliest memories of both Guy and Chelsi, finding each other in the halls we shared at Fraser Court, Edinburgh in September, 2008. I do however remember very clearly, one crisp Scottish afternoon a decade later. Saturday 22nd September 2018 to be precise. We were halfway through the 1st set of one of my favourite gigs of the year; Edinburgh Lindy Exchange’s swing dance on the mound.

Hope's Memories

My memories of Chelsi start when she was 6, so there are many. The photos I have are not worthy of this page, so you need to settle for words. Words that pop into my brain when I think of Chelsi are, in no particular order: Horses Spice (the little blonde fur baby) Swing dancing Furbies Corsets Shrimp Vintage clothing and accessories Christmas glitter Gumbo and po' boys Even numbers Sweet tooth, especially for candy (and only certain colors) Handbags Nail polish Penguins (The NHL team) and penguins (the animal) Skeletons Steampunk Cherry and/or grape tomatoes And, for the past couple of years, Guy!

Clay's Memories

Chelsi is one of my oldest friends, so it’s quite a challenge to narrow it down to a single memory! So let’s talk about that time Chelsi travelled to San Francisco to see me. San Francisco is a lovely place to visit, and we took advantage of it. We took a trip to both Napa and Sonoma Valley for wine tasting, and to enjoy some of the art that the valleys had to offer.
